Mission:

To explore the world of pipes and tobacco, the enjoyment of pipe collecting and current affairs affecting the hobby, including the politics of tobacco, the history of tobacco and the United States and the world.

Contest:

In case you haven't noticed, PSI has begun a “And a woman is only a woman, but a good pipe is a. . . . ” contest. It is drawing entries daily. We'd like for you to enter, and then when you have finished our little exercise in wordsmithing, you can visit our friends at Pipe Chat and enter their contest.

Keep in mind, however, that both contests are separate. One size does not fit all in this case. The PSI contest is a little different in that you have to limit the words to 25 or less. Easier said than done, eh?

So, write how your pipe gives you pleasure and why you look forward to puffing away during the day.

The top five (picked by an impartial jury, of course) will receive an 8 0z. tin of your favorite tobacco from Cornell & Diehl.

Deadline is Sept. 25, which should be a reminder to keep your words to 25. If there is enough interest, I am told by the Master of the Universe (who will be revealed in due time) that we will continue the pipe smoking contest, deadline always falling on the 25th of the month, to remind you of the number of words allowed. Nifty trick, we thought.

Winners will be named in a followup post. I will then need the winners to email me the name of their favorite C&D tin, which I will forward to C&D. I will need a snail mail address for winners.

Get those entries in by Sept. 25th.

Good luck. And good writing!
