More from the FDA:
On Monday Aug. 30, the Food and Drug Administration’s Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee will hold a meeting beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center, 9751 Washingtonian Blvd., Gaithersburg, MD. The meeting lasts until noon.
I love this: the FDA says, “parking is limited.” Oh, yeah, I bet this place was picked just for that reason.
Here is the meeting agenda:
On August 30, 2010, the committee will receive a report from the Tobacco Product Constituents Subcommittee and discuss a proposed initial list of harmful or potentially harmful constituents, the rational for inclusion of each constituent, established analytical methods as well as the ancillary methods and normalization standards for the identified constituents.
The meeting lowdown is on the FDA website
On another note, the FDA has also awarded what it calls “compliance and enforcement contracts to eight states. Check it out here

Secure the hatches! The storm is nearing. Prohibition is just around the corner! I thought it might take longer to get to this point. Implementation is well underway. It’s just a matter of time now. Countdown has begun.
Take a deep breath and smell the freedom of a Smokeasy near you.
I have grown annoyed at allowing myself to fret over the possibility of losing the freedom to smoke my pipe. Government at all levels is broke and if they do continue on the road to tobacco prohibition than they will dry up a large stream of tax revenue.
